i hate to say it

last night i was watching comedy central and I caught the last 30 minutes of the movie Waiting. it intrigued me. I was completely astounded by what I saw.

I've heard some of my coworkers say that Waiting is the best movie ever and that I should see it. yadda yadda.

So I bought it off of iTunes tonight. And yes, watching the movie is as close as you can get to working at Applebees. Every single scene of the movie is what Applebees has been like. Every actor is someone I know or knew. Every line, every joke, every party scene, everything. The testicle pranks, the underage hostesses, even the "quit whining and join army" I've been there. I've seen people drop food on the ground and tell me to pick it up but I have always thrown away anything that touches the ground. I take pride in my expo shifts. It wouldn't surprise me that others wouldn't. Nevertheless, I'm sad to say that Waiting is, in fact, a mirror image of working in a chain restaraunt.

My favorite scene of the whole movie is where all of the cooks are watching the clock count down until closing hour, like it's new years eve. And then they get one last order two minutes before. I cant tell you how many times I've been there. From Renatos to Barros to Thats Amore to Applebees. It BLOWS.

No grade.

I've never seen it, but I'm afraid if I do I'll never want to eat out ever again! I'm glad you hold yourself to higher standards though.

And I remember working at the mall and we'd shut all but one door once it hit 9:00. We'd leave that door open so the people left in could get out. But there would always be some dumba$$ coming in and piling up with clothes and heading towards the fitting room.... ARGHHHHHHH!!!! I feel your pain!

hahahaha ya! its super aggravating.

i think the movie is a little exaggerated. People at my restaurant don't go around maliciously messing with people's food for no reason. In fact everyone is pretty enthusiastic about making sure orders are exactly the way they should be. The kitchen crew I work with is ran by really good KM managers. The accounts I've heard of were few and by a couple people I really have no respect for anyways, but spat a loogie or dropped food because the customers were being downright vile (making servers cry, racial remarks, profanity, etc.) Nevertheless, it's still unacceptable in my book, no matter how completely out of line or disrespectful someone is being.

but if you get a chance, go watch the movie, its literally like watching me and some of my coworkers. and dont be afraid to eat out, you and daniel are super courteous.

Man, I only remember a few things from that movie, and it's really only the pranks they pull on each other. I "saw" it one night while I was working on a group project at school, which means I heard it more that I watched it.

The prank thing reminds me. A couple guys I work with right now just came up with an AMAZING idea. There is an old guy in the office who has these sayings he always uses. Stuff like "Doesn't make no nevermind...", "Pain in the sit-down!", "I'll bet you a dollar to a hole in a donut..." and "I'm up to my neck in alligators." They made BINGO cards with his sayings, and we're going to see who can get BINGO as we listen to him on the phone, etc. Great stuff! Sometimes my office is a lot like the show The Office!

I would email you, but I'm not sure what email address you use these days. I just wanted to make sure you knew (I've told dad, but not sure he passed it along) that there's no pressure for you to come out and visit us. We would love to see you and show you around our town, but we know that money is tight and stuff. Love you brosky!
